Prevention calls for a shift in mindset—one that reorients policies and practices to stop housing loss before it happens. It involves rethinking assumptions, challenging the status quo, and embracing new, cross-systems solutions. While this work is challenging, it is also transformative. By focusing on prevention, we can create meaningful, lasting change for individuals, systems, and communities.
Homelessness prevention is a critical component of any strategy to end homelessness. Without a clear focus on prevention, efforts often remain reactive, concentrating on managing homelessness rather than addressing its root causes. This training aims to guide you through a framework for prevention that challenges conventional approaches and encourages a forward-thinking mindset.
